Saudade
Pronunciation: [sau-da-de]
Meaning: Melancholic longing or nostalgia for a person, place or thing that is far away from you.
Inspiration: "Near, far, wherever you are, Calcutta is a city that always, somehow induces nostalgia for itself, its people, its culture, its food, its bygone days and more...When I think of my city of birth the aromas that come to my mind are of Jasmine, Sandalwood and Neroli. Caressing and loving these notes are like a balm for the soul." - Jhelum Biswas Bose
The Story: "I had just returned from a short, sweet break from Calcutta. My heart was still there. I could still smell the jasmine garland that I had impulsively bought at the Esplanade crossing the evening before. Sitting in my studio in Delhi, as a daily practice I started blending oils, the scent of jasmine still playing through me... a drop of this a drop of that... sandalwood and jasmine... smelled nice and melancholic... smelled almost like Calcutta just a bit of sparkle and it would be the essence of my city. So a touch of neroli went in. Now it needed just a pat of comfort and so in went myrrh. And there it was my scent of nostalgia, my scent of Calcutta, my Saudade.
The whiff of the perfume also instantly reminded me of someone who I truly admire. She is charming, she is elegant, she is strong, she is that sensuous Bengali beauty and can slay the world with her style and grace. She is Kalyani Chawla.
This perfume is dedicated to you Kalyani as much as it is to the city that we both love so much." - Jhelum Biswas Bose

All this is expressed through the notes of this vivacious scent. The aromas of Rose, Oudh, Black Pepper, Vanilla and Tangerine together create a medley that plays on your heart strings." - Jhelum Biswas Bose
The Story: "Flambé - The Aroma of Flamboyance draws inspiration from the city of Delhi. It has got elegance, excess and exuberance that I have tried to capture with the notes of Oudh, rose, black pepper, tangerine and vanilla. I also have a muse for this perfume - my dear friend,Varun Ravindranath Rana. His charm, wit, warmth and of course, flamboyance, is the aura that I kept in mind when creating this blend.

Pronunciation: [fa-naa]
Meaning: The annihilation (as in Sufism) of the individual human will before the will of God
Inspiration: "How can I not be drawn to Kashmir, the place that is an inspiration for my name – Jhelum? The valley evokes in me the spirit of selfless love. There is something mystic in the beauty and air of this place. I have tried to capture that enchantment through this intoxicating blend of Blue Lotus, Lavender, Saffron and Cardamom." - Jhelum Biswas Bose
The Story: "Fanaa is my ode to Kashmir. This blend of Lavender, Blue Lotus, Cardamom and Clary Sage is gentle but in excess can be intoxicating. I dedicate this whimsical fragrance to my Sufi friend, Aabha Hanjura, a lovely person whose passion is dedicated to reviving folk songs from Kashmir.
Aabha and I worked together in the India Today group, where our interactions were limited to edit-vs-sales fights. Back then, I had no clue of her talents. It's only when one fine day she decided to give up her job and follow her dream that I got to know the other side of her.
Her beautiful renditions of Kashmiri folk music has carved out a space in my heart. There's a childish innocence and twinkle in her voice that shines out from the songs and reaches one's soul.
I express my admiration for Aabha by dedicating my perfume to her. A dedication from a woman who does what she dreams to another who lives her dreams - Here's raising a toast to our 'dream-filled' sisterhood!" - Jhelum Biswas Bose

Petrichor
Pronunciation: [pet-ri-kor]
Meaning: A pleasant, distinctive smell accompanying the first rain after a period of dry, warm weather.
Inspiration: "Wet earth, crushed leaves, moist barks, fresh grass - that’s the scent of the sleepy town of Kurseong. Its my fragrance of rest & peace - my languid vacations of childhood. The woody, verdant notes of Cedarwood, Pine, Vetiver, Patchouli & Clary Sage create a caressing blend that induces calmness & tranquility." - Jhelum Biswas Bose
The Story: "The word Petrichor means the scent of wet earth after the first rain shower following a spell of dry warm weather. The smell that instantly takes me back to the misty mountains and reminds me of some wonderful people I know who have moved far away from the madding crowd and made the hills their home.
Anshuman Sen is one such hermit friend who inspires the soul of this fragrance. He stays in the heart of south Delhi but his heart beats for the mountains where he has his home and his workshop of Junaili. I have known Anshuman from the early days of my career when I was a novice beauty writer with Good Housekeeping. Our friendship grew to a bond where he naturally assumed the role of a brother and would advise me like a sage on both personal and professional issues. His worldview is simple and grounded, at times can even seem primitive - like the hills that he so loves - yet they are always solid suggestions that will push you to get back on your feet and move ahead.
My dear friend, this blend of Cedarwood, Pine Patchouli & Clary Sage is dedicated to you. Thank you for being there always. And wish you the very best with Junaili" - Jhelum Biswas Bose
