ASPEN

Latin Name: Populus Tremula

Description: It is a type of deciduous tree, which belongs to the willow family. There are six species of aspen that can be found in the temperate areas of the northern hemisphere. Color of its leaves changes from green to golden yellow during the autumn. Even the slightest breeze triggers trembling of leaves because of their light-weight and long leaf-stalks.

Myth: It is believed that life’s mysteries can be revealed by careful listening of the sound produced by trembling leaves of aspen.

Bach Flower Remedy: This flower essence discovered by Dr Edward Bach, is given for fears and worries of unknown origin. If you suffer from sudden worries and are generally anxious with a sense of foreboding, aspen will help in acquiring a state of inner peace, security and fearlessness. It is especially helpful for young children experiencing nightmares.

Dr Bach wrote: “Once we come to that realisation we are beyond pain and suffering, beyond care or worry or fear, beyond everything except the joy of life, the joy of death, and the joy of our immortality…we can walk that path through any danger, through any difficulty, unafraid.”

My experience: I have often experienced anxiety without a particular reason accompanied with trembling. These moments felt like as if I was at the brink trying to figure out something in the darkness or abyss ahead. There was a strange sense of foreboding yet a desire to know what lies beyond the veil. Taking Aspen Bach Flower Remedy during these times have settled my fears and enabled me to connect to my inner core and discover something innate about myself.

Direction of use: Take 2 drops in a cup of water/herbal tea and sip at intervals. It would be a great idea to sip on this water/tea and meditate on what you experience. Just observe your breath, mind and body after taking the remedy and note down your observations in a journal.
