HYDRATING SERUM

When it comes to skincare, I don’t shift loyalties too easily. But here is a serum that is threatening dislodged my favourite of seven years!

In my 20s I went overboard experimenting with makeup and skincare products. At that time my skin was resilient enough to tolerate my abuse. However, the waywardness started taking a toll in my 30s. It was like my skin sighing and saying “enough is enough, now don’t push your genes too hard”. And thankfully I heard that and immediately mended my ways. I realised that I have been blessed with great skin and so I have no business treating it bad. As an immediate step, I analysed the current health of my skin and formalised a CTM beauty routine with specific products. I gave every product at least a month’s time to show results and didn’t change the effective one for at least 5-6 months. In this endeavour, my serum remained my steadfast friend. I fell in love with Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex the first time I tried it some seven years ago. The serum had just got a makeover and I just loved the way it just sunk into my skin and filled it with life. Since then it has remained my favourite beauty product and four years ago I decided to make it a permanent resident of my grooming ritual. I had tried numerous serums but nothing clicked the way ANR did. Peter Thomas Roth’s Camu Camu Power C X 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Serum competed for a while but I felt it wasn’t really value for money and therefore, I turned back to my old friend. However, in the last three weeks a young entrant from Kiehl’s – Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate – has silently nudged out ANR and made a place for itself in my daily regime. Its jelly-like texture can be misleading – I first thought it would be too moist and heavy. However, to my surprise, it instantly sinks into the skin, plumps it and hydrates it. I like to follow it up with the lovely Vitamin E Skin Oil and the two together makes my skin really happy.

I have not yet bid a complete adieu to ANR. It is a friend that has stood the test of time. The new comer is great and has stuck around far longer than other serums have. So let’s wait and watch. Will keep you updated.
