LOVE POTIONS

Trying to choose the perfect fragrance to go with your perfect V’Day outfit? Why don’t you just create your own?

With so many choices of invigorating perfumes I can never decide which one I love the best. And with the special day just around the corner you’d want things to be as perfect as they can be. But what do you do when you can’t decide? Create your own perfume. Yes you heard me right. You can create your own blend of signature perfume. How exciting is that?!

We spent a beautiful afternoon at Dr. Blossom Kochhar’s Earth to Bottle Spalon in Hauz Khas Village learning how to create love potions with the expert herself. Herbal tea, scented candles and a blend of essential oils does have a sense of romance to it. And Dr Kochhar’s expertise in the field of aromatherapy just helps to carry forward that feeling into your everday life. These lillte blends have the soft power to turn a mundane moment into a moment of magic. I am NOT exaggerating. My excitment of creating love potions has rubbed off on my friends. I’ve already had a few of my friends longing to learn the secret of blending the scents. So here’s the secret. First things first, you’ll need the essential oil kit from Aroma Magic. Go quickly get it from the store and then let’s get started.

Take about 1-2 tsp of carrier oil from the kit or you can also replace it with almond oil or jojoba oil and to that you can add any of the three oil blends below:

2 drops of sandalwood

1 drop of jasmine or ylang ylang

1 drop of rose

OR

4 drops of lavender

4 drops of lemon

1 drop of patchouli

OR

2 drops of sandalwood

1 drop of ylang ylang or jasmine

Now stir it all and store it in little bottles. While these were the 3 recipes that Dr Kochhar shared, we thought of experimenting a little and guess what? We created a gorgeous love potion that we simply love. Here’s the recipe –

2 drops of cedarwood

2 drops of clove

1 drop of rose 1 drop of orange

Tip: When experimenting, don’t go overboard. A blend should ideally not have more than 5 essential oils to start with. Once you master the art, you can use as many as you wish to. After all, as fashion commentator, Varun Rana says, “…let your own God-given nose be your master”
