WASH YOUR HAIR RIGHT

Ever wondered why your hair feels great after a salon wash and not the same at home? Here are some tips that will help you have a good hair day everyday.

It is very important to wash your hair properly and not too often. Too much shampoo can rob your hair off its natural oils and putting too much pressure while rinsing can cause split ends and hair loss. Washing your hair too often is also not good as it can make your mane dry and frizzy. It is advisable to wash it thrice a week.

Listed below are steps that one must keep in mind while washing their hair:
1. Hot oil massage
Oiling is a tried and tested method, and works wonders for your hair. Excessive use of shampoo and other chemical infused products often robs your hair off natural oils. Oiling every fortnight can work wonders. It restores the pH balance of the scalp and provides nourishment to roots, keeping the hair strong, moisturised and untangled.

Jhelum Loves Mane Tamer Hair Oil works well; ylang ylang and cedarwood are essential oils which nourishes your hair to the core.

2. Comb out your hair
After giving yourself a good massage, brush out your hair using a wide-tooth comb. This helps increase blood circulation and untangle knots, which in turn preps your hair for a smooth and easy wash.

3. Rinse
Rinse your hair before you start shampooing. Use lukewarm water to rinse. Tepid water helps open up clogged pores on your scalp, removes dirt and excess oil buildup, and prepares your hair to absorb the conditioner.

4. Shampooing
Now comes the most tricky step. Do not use too much of shampoo in one go. Take a coin sized amount of the product in your palm and massage your roots gently. Do not be too rough as it can damage your hair and lead to hair loss. Avoid scrubbing your hair too much and do not use your nails to scratch your scalp. With the tips of your finger, gently massage your hair in a circular motion. Rinse your hair well and repeat the process.

Make sure that no residue of the shampoo is left.

It is also very important to choose the correct shampoo depending upon your hair type. Try to go for a shampoo that is either completely free or has less amount of sulphates and paraben.

Jhelum Loves Headstart Shampoo is great option as it is infused with essential oils like orange, vanilla and cinnamon. It is free of any harmful chemicals that can damage your hair.

5. Conditioning
Squeeze out the excess water from your hair strands. Take a coin sized amount of conditioner in your palm and gently massage the tips and the lower section of your hair. Do not apply the conditioner to your scalp as this can make your scalp excessively oily.
Leave the conditioner on for 2-3 minutes and rinse your hair well, leaving no residue of the product. Always use cold water in the end as it helps to close the follicles and pores, and also adds lustre and shine to your hair.
Tresemmes Damage Protect Conditioner is a good option.

6. Drying your hair
Avoid using towels to dry your hair as towels are abrasive and is too harsh for your hair. They can cause split ends and hair fall. Instead, use a cotton t- shirt or cloth to squeeze out the water gently.

7. Post wash comb
While your hair is wet, it is easier to untangle knots without causing any damage. Use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to brush out hair. Be very careful and gentle while doing so as your hair is most tender and fragile when it is wet.

8. Serum
This step is optional, however it is always better to use a serum in the end as it provides nourishment as well as volume to your hair.
Farmavita’s Argan Sublime Oil Elixir is our top pick.

9. Avoid using any heating tools to dry your hair
It is always best to avoid heating tools like a blow- dryer to dry your hair. Allow your hair to air dry unless it is absolutely necessary to use a heating tool. If at all usage of the heating device is unavoidable, do not forget to use hair protecting spray before styling your hair.

Tresemme has a large variety of heat protectants depending upon the styling tool being used.
It might be a little time consuming, but it is after all not that difficult to pull off a good hair day every day.
