5 DIY HACKS TO TACKLE BRITTLE HAIR

It’s that time of the year when the crowning glory needs some major TLC. Here are some indulgences that will keep your dry and brittle hair happy.

Yoghurt, eggs, lemon and honey may be the makings of a great breakfast but they are also a treat for the tresses. So, look no further than your kitchen cupboard to restore those shiny strands. We list five home remedies that you can conjure up in no time from the comfort of your house.

Avocados (quite dear but then so is your hair) are super for brittle hair. Mash it up with an egg and apply to wet hair. Keep for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Do this once a week.

Buttering those locks, pun intended, helps dry, brittle hair. Take a dot of butter and massage it into your hair. Cover with a shower cap for approximately 30 minutes and shampoo as usual.

Rehydrate dry hair with this quick treatment. Mix 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 egg whites and apply on your scalp and strands. Tuck your hair into a shower cap for 30 minutes post which you go in for a wash.

A shampoo omelette is something you’ve probably never heard of but if an omelette is good for you, can’t it be good for your hair. Break an egg and blend it with a little shampoo and apply to hair. Keep on for 5 minutes and wash off. Protein for your hair is never a bad thing.

Nature’s sweetener honey is not to be ignored here. Honey works as an automatic humectants, that is it traps and locks moisture. Massage half a cup of honey into clean, wet hair and sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. To that honey, you could throw in 1 or 2 tablespoons of olive oil. This also helps with easy application. If you have sun-damaged hair, then blend honey with a high protein element like egg yolk or avocado.

These simple home remedies will take your locks from dry and brittle to healthy and hydrated in no time. Take the cue and start rummaging through those cupboards already.
