DEBUNKING THE DETOX CRAZE

Keeping the body well-hydrated can be a real chore.  We all know how much water we’re supposed to drink in a day, but let’s face it, water can be pretty bland and boring. And drinking a litre or two of that can be a task. But the world has now woken up to this wonderful drink called the “Detox Water” which helps you consume the required quantity of water with ease and promises a whole deal of health benefits that include flushing out toxins, infusing your blood stream with minerals and vitamins and help lose weight. Treat this drink as giving your plain Jane water a sexy avatar which may have some nutritional value. Read on for some such makeovers.

Cucumber, lemon and mint water – Cucumbers, lemon, and mint are a classic spa water combo – the lemon and mint may aid digestion and the cucumber rehydrates along with having anti-inflammatory properties. Cucumber is very hydrating vegetable as it has majorly water in it. Lemon has a cleansing effect, thanks to citric acid which purifies the digestive system. The mint adds freshness to the drink and enhances the taste as it is a great combination with cucumber and lemon. Our Verdict?

 

You and your body are a team, and when you want to detox, you only have the best intentions at heart. The detox water, according to research, serves no other purpose than to help you gulp down those extra litres. Detoxification can be defined loosely, more as a day-to-day undertaking, rather than an intense period or product that “cleanses”, and that won’t help much once you stop. It’s a blend of knowing what to avoid, and what kind of things actually do help you out, whether used on occasion or every day. It can be as simple as eating healthier.
