A glass of orange juice is refreshing whether you have it in summers or in winters, but did you know oranges can do wonders to your skin and hair.

Orange is one of the most commonly found fruits in the world and it’s a rich storehouse of beneficiary nutrients. It contains a high amount of potassium, riboflavin, vitamin A and calcium. Beta-carotene which is found in orange peels is converted into vitamin A in our body and is extremely helpful for our immune system and eyesight. It also acts as an anti-oxidant and helps in entrapping the cell damaging free radicals.

Orange juice – the potent drink:

Begin each morning with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. It’s rich in vitamin A, C, B6, K and riboflavin. It will immensely help you in lowering cholesterol, blood pressure and inflammatory diseases.It also brings a radiant glow to the skin keeping it hydrated and firm. It cleans out and tightens clogged pores, and also helps in reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Oranges for the hair:

For lustrous hair, make a homemade conditioner with some freshly squeezed orange juice and a teaspoon of honey. Apply it after shampooing your hair and let it rest for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it with lukewarm water for an instantaneous shine.

Oranges for the skin:

  • De-tan: The Indian summer leaves behind a vicious tan and with parties knocking at our doors this winter, we would definitely want to get rid of this sun tan. Concoct a natural face pack using oranges, a few drops of lime juice and a tablespoon each of fuller’s earth and sandalwood powder. Apply the paste on your face and rinse after 15-30 minutes.
  • Acne control: Acne has a tendency of spoiling our picture-perfect moments and hours are spent in editing, before it finds its way on the Instagram. A natural DIY pack can be made using 2 tablespoon of orange juice and a tablespoon each of honey and milk. Make a smooth paste, apply it on your face and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. For quicker result you can add a vitamin E tablet to this paste. Apply it every week and be ready to rock the New Year bash.
  • Blemish eraser: Another agonising effect of acne is that they leave behind blemishes on your skin. In order to get a flawless skin make a ‘uptaan’ by grinding a couple of soaked almonds and then adding 2 tablespoon of milk and a tablespoon of orange juice. Apply it on the face and let it rest for half an hour, with regular use you will notice change in your skin.

 

 

Orange peel:

The peel is more important than the fruit in case of oranges since it is a rich source of nutrients and anti-oxidants. So the next time you have an orange save the peel. Sun dry the peels and grind them finely and store it in a jar for effective beauty treatments.

 

Anti-ageing pack: Ageing is a natural process of life. But it brings a certain baggage with it – wrinkles and fine lines. In our stressful life, signs of ageing set in very early. To combat it and to maintain the youth try this effective natural remedy. Take a tablespoon of orange peel powder, two tablespoons of honey and a tablespoon of oats, and mix the ingredients well. Apply it on your face and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash it off using cold water. Apply it once in a week and notice the clock turn back for you.

 

Blackhead remover: To curb the ubiquitous problem of blackheads, use this DIY remedy; make a paste of a tablespoon each of orange peel and yoghurt. Apply it on your face using a circular motion, let it rest for 15 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water.
