EXPRESS PEDI AT HOME

Of course, you should go to a salon to indulge your feet but once in a while why not try it at home! It’s fun.

  1. Soak

First remove old nail paint from the tips and trim the nails. Then soak your feet in a tub filled with lukewarm water with few drops of baby shampoo, 1 tablespoon of rock salt, 1 lemon’s juice and few drops of an essential oil of your choice. Salt is anti-bacterial and along with lemon it removes the dead skin cells.
Another foot soak you can go for is adding ½ cup honey, 1 tablespoon vinegar and one sliced lemon to lukewarm water. Honey is a humectant that locks moisture in the skin and vinegar has anti-bacterial properties. Keep the feet soaked for 20 minutes and then pat them dry.

  1. Soften

Take 3 tablespoons olive oil warm it and when warm add 1 tablespoon coconut oil and 1 tablespoon glycerine to it and mix them. Apply this softener for 5 minutes and wipe it off with some cotton wool.

  1. Scrub

With a pumice stone rub the heels and sides of the feet to remove dead skin cells. Use soft-bristled tooth brush to clean the nails. Don’t miss the skin on ankles which is more likely to have dead skin. You could also try using some foot scrubs. Here are some homemade recipes:

Sea Salt scrub

Mix ½ cup sea salt, ½ cup sugar, ¼ cup olive oil and few drops of essential oil of your choice. Sea salt and sugar are natural exfoliators removing dead skin cells and recharging new ones. And olive oil moisturises the skin while essential oil is for fragrance and to complement your mood.

Brown Sugar scrub

Take 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons powdered oatmeal, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon olive oil and mix them. Massage the scrub on feet for few minutes and then rinse.

  1. Moisturise

For moisturising you can of course use any hand and body lotion or body butter. But you could also opt for natural oils like olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil or create your own foot cream!

Take 1 cup honey slightly warmed; add 1-2 tablespoon milk and 1 orange’s juice in it. Mix all three and massage it onto your feet for 10 minutes. Honey is a natural humectant locking the moisture in skin giving it softness. Milk is rich in vitamin A which is good for a healthy skin and heals the cracks also. Oranges have vitamin C producing collagen giving skin its elasticity. Wipe off with a warm, wet towel.

  1. Apply your favourite nail paint.
