Lipsticks are an inseparable part of the makeup. You can go without an eye makeup but certainly not without something on the sexiest part of your body. A perfect pout can accentuate your look making you more attractive and beautiful. Then why settle for anything less. Choose the right product as per the shape of your lips, attire, longevity and most important – your style. There are several lip products in the market. You can either wear them alone or pair them with few more. Pairing the right ones could get you all appreciations. I perfect my look by combining a lip liner, matte lipstick and lip gloss. And all this effort is worth it.
Here are some smart makeup tips that will help you dress your pout like a pro:
1) Lip balms: This is a lip product that everyone should use. It hydrates the lips keeping them soft and supple. Some of them come with a hint of colour also. The ones which have SPF or vitamin E are more beneficial for the health of the lips. Burt’s Bees Honey Lip Balm, The Body Shop Strawberry Lip Balm and Maybelline Baby Lips are some of our favourites.
2) Lip liners: Very few use it as a first step for getting the perfect lips, but it is a step that one must follow. It not only gives a well-defined outline to the lips but also makes the lip colour stay in place for longer. But while choosing one for yourself keep in mind that it should be of the closest shade to your lips as darker colour may ruin the look. Revlon Colorstay Lipliner, M.A.C Lip Pencil, Lakme Perfect Definition Lip Liner Pencil and NYX Slim Lip Pencil are few that you must try.
3) Matte Lipsticks: These have been adored by ladies for the longest time. These give your lips an intense look but without the shine. If you are looking something that adds shine then this is not the one for sure though you can layer a lip gloss later to get the shiny effect. Matte lipsticks last the longest but lack moisture so those with dry lips shouldn’t go for this. NYX Matte Lipsticks, Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks, Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour have some nice variety of shades.
4) Creamy lipsticks: A perfect choice for those who have dry lips as they keep them soft and smooth. These lipsticks comprise ingredients like vitamin E, glycerin, aloe and wax for keeping the moisture of the lips intact. They can be paired with a lip gloss for the shine effect as these are not so shiny. If you are looking for deep colours then these are not for you as they just give a hint of colour to your lips. Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color and Inglot Lipstick.
5) Frosted lipsticks: These are the ones that can add shimmer to your lips. The shimmery lip colour reflects light giving the shine that you want. But at the same time these can dry up your lips. It is recommended either to apply them for shorter time period or moisturise the lips before applying it. The best ones in this category include Estee Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick and NYX Round Lipstick.
6) Satin lipsticks: Looking for a shiny lip colour for dry lips then this is the one you should go for. They give you the glisten and keep the lips moisturised as they come infused with high oil ingredients. You can always choose them over matte lipsticks as they give deep colours same as them while keeping lips smooth and soft. The only drawback that you will notice is that they are not long lasting like matte. Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Colour and Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick will surely make way to your makeup kit.
7) Lip gloss: These ones are no longer limited to the teenagers as it caters to the makeup needs of women of all age group. They look best when paired with a matte lipstick, adding shine and moisture. These have same problem as satin lipstick they also need to be reapplied every now and then. Lancome Lip Lover and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss are two of the ranges which you wouldn’t regret trying.
8) Lip plumper: Lip plumpers are an easy way to get those bee-stung pouts. Swipe it on to add volume to your lips and to get sheer colour. They can be used as a gloss or paired with a matte lipstick, both would give you the sexy pout. Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker and Benefit Lip Plump are two of my favourites.
9) Lip stain: Last but not the least these are the long lasting liquid lip colours. These avoid the hassle of reapplication and gives sheer colour to your lips, Benetint and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain are few to name in this category.
