I preach but I have been guilty of not following what I preach. Yes, I do go to bed without taking off my makeup on some days. I know it is as bad as stepping out without sunscreen but I do that. Why? Sheer laziness and the painstaking, long procedure involved in taking off waterproof makeup. Further I don’t like the texture and feel of most cleansers. Creamy makeup removers seem sticky, face wipes don’t do much and can leave the skin feeling a little raw, and facewashes are well tedious. On days that I am a good girl I first massage face with creamy cleanser, then wipe it off with wet tissue and finally go for a second cleanse with a facewash. How I wish all of this could be rolled into just one. This is what a miscellar water does.

So what is a micellar water? It is not a toner, a cleansing milk or a facewash. It removes makeup and cleanses the skin, without the need for rinsing. Since the cleansing agents are gentle, it does not leave the skin feeling tight and dry. Rather the skin feels hydrated, soft and supply – as if it has had a glass of chilled water on hot summer day. No, I am not exaggerating, you need to only use it to understand why I am gushing about it. Micellar waters have been widely available in French pharmacies for many years and have a considerable cult following internationally. However, in India there are very few options of this product. Last month I got introduced to the newly launched Vivel Cell Renew Micellar Makeup Remover and fell in love with it instantly. The packaging is neat and the product is super effective and gentle. It is also modestly priced. I have been using it for the last one month and my skin feels just fine. Makeup, oil and grime is removed in one clean sweep. No more triple cleansing, no more even holding the cleansing pad over eye makeup for a minute before sweeping it clean. All I do now is splash on some miscellar water on a cleansing wipe, let it soak and then swipe it over my skin.
