5 BEAUTY HACKS YOU’LL NEED THIS SUMMER!

Summer weather can wreck havoc on your skin and hair. Here’re a few beauty hacks that will help you beat the heat.

1) Use dry shampoo at night to absorb excess oil and sweat by morning

In summer our hair tends to get extra greasy and oily which tempts us to wash our hair frequently. However, frequent washing of hair robs the scalp of its natural oils, making your hair dull and brittle. A simple hack is to use dry shampoo when the hair gets greasy on the second or third day of the hair wash. Leave it on at night to absorb excess oil and sweat by morning. TIP: Baby powder is the original dry shampoo. Shake the powder into your hands, then run the fingers through the roots of your hair.

2) Whiten your underarm with baking soda, coconut oil and lemon juice

We love wearing those girly beach dresses in summers, but dark underarms often stop us from doing so. This DIY scrub will help exfoliate your skin, removing any dark or rough patches. Just mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice; scrub the mixture on your underarms for 5-10 minutes and wash it off.

3) Carry a face mist

Your makeup tends to sweat away in the summers. If you’re out in the heat and find it hard to refresh your makeup, take a facial mist along with you. Spraying a generous pump of the mist on your face will help you cool the skin and make your makeup last longer.

4) Remove tan using cucumber, lemon juice and rose water

While avoiding a tan is difficult owing to the summer heat, removing one isn’t. This homemade scrub works miracles in doing so. Mix 1 tablespoon of each of the 3 ingredients in a bowl and dab it generously on your tanned skin.

5) Drink lots of water

Our skin tends to get easily dehydrated in the summers. Drink at least 3 litres of water daily to replenish your skin, tighten fine lines and get an inner glow.
