5 RAIN-PROOF TRESS TRICKS

Finding it hard to manage your mane in this season? Here’re a few DIY hacks to help your tresses survive the showers.

Don’t let your love for rains damage your crowning glory. The humid weather leaves our locks looking limp, lifeless and brittle. Moreover, the pollutants that come down with the rain water result in scalp infections. Our way out of these tress troubles is going natural and turning to our kitchen cabinets for the remedies.

No More Hairfall: This is the most common problem that we face during monsoons. Shedding around 200 strands a day is normal for a person in this season but more than that can be alarming. And the more you stress the more hair you lose, so here’s putting an end to this vicious circle with a DIY pack that can help in strengthening the mane and promote hair growth. Mix 1 cup honey, 1 cup almond oil and 1 cup grounded chamomile leaves.  Take adequate quantity of this and massage it to the scalp. Leave it for about an hour and rinse off with a mild shampoo. Do this twice a week for better results.

Forget The Frizz: With high humidity levels and frequent washes our strands tend to become frizzy. Even when we get drenched and rough dry our hair with a towel, it adds to the frizz. So while you need to avoid drying this way here is a pack that you can try. Take 2 eggs, 2 tbsp curd, juice of half lemon and a few drops of honey. Blend them well and apply evenly starting from root to the tip. Keep it for an hour and rinse off to achieve smooth and manageable texture.

Goodbye Greasy Scalp: The added moisture in the atmosphere leads to an oily scalp. Take 1 tsp aloe gel and 1 tbsp lemon juice, and mix it with one cup of any mild shampoo. Wash your hair and allow the shampoo to remain on your hair for a few minutes before rinsing it off. You can also simply massage aloe gel on to your scalp. Aloe restores the pH balance, reduces bacteria, reduces itchiness of the scalp and promotes hair growth.

Inhibit Infections: During the downpour our scalp becomes vulnerable to fungal and bacterial infections. Keep your hair and scalp dry, the quicker it goes from wet to dry the more you are near to keeping such infections at bay. You can also add a drop or two of tea tree oil in your regular shampoo and wash your hair. It has properties that help in fighting fungal and bacterial infections.

Cut The Smell: Does your hair starts smelling after you’ve been caught in a shower? Then you need to keep your scalp clean and dry. And a little later rinse your strands with a concoction of ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1 cup water. Leave it for about two minutes and rinse it off with a mild shampoo.

And for those who feel a little lazy concocting these DIYs, they can try Jhelum Loves Hair Care range that is handcrafted and is infused with natural ingredients. The collection includes Mane Tamer Hair Oil, Refresher Hair Spray and Energiser Shampoo. Tip: Massage your scalp with the oil and leave it for about 20 minutes, rinse it off with Energiser which contains pure aloe gel. Follow it with a few spritz of Refresher which gives a citrusy and floral fragrance to your tresses.
