GETTING GROUNDED

What are clay and mud masks? Are they the same? What is the difference? Read on to know the nitty-gritties.

We often tend to confuse clay for mud and use the terms interchangeably. While both are beneficial for the skin when applied topically, they are different and are used to address separate issues. Digging deep we unearthed that while clay acts as a drying agent, mud is more hydrating. So before you choose between the two facial masks you need to know what your skin needs.

MUD MASKS:

This mask proves to be more hydrating as compared to clay. Infused with minerals it is nourishing and a must-have in beauty regimes of those with dry skin.

What all it does:

– Improves blood circulation

– Cleanses dirt and impurities

– Moisturises

– Rejuvenates tired skin

– Enhances the skin’s texture and adds a glow

– Helps in repairing the skin tissues

CLAY MASK:

Best known for exfoliation, and absorbing excessive oil and dirt, these masks are ideal for oily and acne-prone skin.

What all it does:

– Absorbs oil and dirt

– Tightens the skin

– Removes dead cells

– Minimises open pores

– Prevents breakouts

Fuller’s earth has bleaching properties that help in reducing pigmentation. You can also use French Pink clay in case you have sensitive skin, as it soothes and calms the skin.
