PERFECT SUMMER BLOOM

Summer is not even at its peak yet and the heat waves are already unbearable. To say that I’m not a summer person would be an understatement. Having said that, I do look forward to summer for one sole reason: to obsess over all things floral in summers, my fragrance included. The whole idea of sweet scented breezy summers is a dream. And even though the scorching heat gets deadly, I take respite in the fact that I can just spritz on one of the juicy sweet notes and everything in else in the world seems right again.
Apart from my favourite summer perfume, a body mist definitely makes a cut in my handbag must haves during this season. Not only is it light and breezy, you can reapply it through the day and feel refreshed and uplifted. Plus I find it to be more convenient than an EDT. For those of you who despise summers as much as I do, sadly there’s nothing one can do about the weather but there’s one thing you can do and that is spritz on some sweet notes and it envelope you in the beautiful fragrance. Here are some of my favourite summer fragrances that I feel are perfect to beat the scorching summer heat!
1. Caroline Herrera 212 VIP Rose For a perfume that has supermodel Gisele Bundchen as its brand ambassador, how can the fragrance not be beautiful? A flanker to 212 VIP version, the perfume is said to be inspired by the glamour, elegance and fun atmosphere of fashionable New York parties. The fragrance itself is fresh, sweet and feminine. And those of you who aren’t too fond of roses, like myself, don’t get confused by the name. The rosé in the name symbolises the colour and not the notes. What makes it the perfect summer fragrance are the vivid notes in the composition. The top notes reveal the sparkling touch of pink champagne, fresh and slightly fruity. The heart reveals peach tree blossom accord which provides a dose of sophistication to the composition. The base leaves you with sensual and soft woody notes. The fragrance has a strong base note that makes it last longer. It is gentle and elegant and perfect for a summer day.
2. CK One This has been one of my absolute summer fragrances of all times. I initially tried out the fragrance because of my obsession with one of the celebrities who wore this perfume but I gradually came to loving it for the fresh, crisp, and juicy notes that are so refreshing. The top notes are pineapple, mandarin orange, papaya, bergamot, cardamom and lemon. The middle notes play with nutmeg, violet, orris root, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and rose. The base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar and oakmoss. This perfume is so versatile that there was a time when I would wear it everywhere I went from college to dance classes to casual hang out with friends. I highly recommend this classic, if I may call it that.
3. D&G Dolce Dolce makes for a very feminine and sensual fragrance with accords of white blooms. The top notes open the composition with neroli leaf and papaya flower. The middle notes play with the sensual notes of white amaryllis, narcissus and white water lily. The base is soft with cashmere and musk. The fragrance has the resilient charm of the duo Dolce and Gabbana. The concoction is very light which makes it perfect for summers. It is flower power summer dream packed in a bottle.
4. My Burberry Inspired by the cult trench coat from the brand and the London gardens after rain, this fragrance is just delectable. The notes capture the British charm with sweet peas and citrusy notes of bergamot on top. Leading to geranium, freesia flowers and golden quince in the heart and rounded up with patchouli in the base, joined with Damascus and Centifolia rose. It has an air of maturity but at the same time it is chic and elegant. This is a fragrance that can be worn on a couple of different occasions.
5. Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Fragrance Mist I have been using this body mist for almost two years now and regardless to say I’m smitten. I picked up the first one in a rush at the Kuala Lampur airports on my way back from a holiday and haven’t regretted it. If you don’t wish to wear something heavy and strong then this makes the perfect concoction for you. The fragrance has accords of lily, cotton flower, chamomile and aloe vera that make it is so light, refreshing and sensual. I swear by.
6. Bulgari Rose Essentielle I’m not the biggest fan of roses, flowers or any other variety. So a perfume with rose as the main accords was out of the question. And of course I resisted, made a face and finally gave in to a friend’s persuasion. From the moment I spritz this perfume on my wrist, I have been irrevocably in love with the fragrance. It captured my heart and holds it still. I can easily say it is one of my top 5 fragrances. The first notes you will smell is the opulent and deep Turkish rose and rose Prelude. The fruity notes of blackberry are softened with delicate violet and jasmine trace as the middle notes. And the base notes have accords of sandalwood and patchouli. It is a timeless fragrance made elegant with the memory of gorgeous rose bushes and sweetened morning dew. If you haven’t yet tried this one then I can’t begin to tell you what a perfect fragrance you’re missing out on!
7. Nina Ricci Tentation This limited edition perfume is the new variant of the original Nina fragrance. The idea behind this fragrance was for the consumers to want to eat it. I would say bull’s-eye! La Tentation de Nina is a gourmand fragrance with a fresh and fruity appeal. The composition opens up with the citrusy notes of bergamot and takes you into the heart of raspberry, almond, lemon and Bulgarian rose absolute, which are connected together in the macaron accord that are softened by notes of Bourbon vanilla ,white musk and sandalwood at its base. This fragrance is a fun girly spring summer scent that comes in the cutest bottle.
8. The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Fragrance Mist This mist is perfect for sporting in your day to day activities. It is so light and casual. Now I’m not saying that it is a statement fragrance but it’s definitely flawless for a summer day. With notes of vegetable musk note in the top, heart and the base note combined with Turkish delight (rose, almond, honey) and whipped cream. Yes! Whipped cream. How perfect can it get? I usually spray some on right after a shower or a gym session.
