WHAT IS BABY BOTOX?

what is baby botox?

Why has this beauty treatment suddenly become the talking point of south Delhi ladies? We spoke to Dr Varun Katyal for clarity.

Who doesn’t want to look younger? And it’s not a just new age fad. The rich heritage of Ayurveda and its beauty products are a testimonial to how fresh and youthful looks was a predominant aspect of our lives even in past. While it’s only natural that you want to preserve your youthful radiance, aesthetic medical procedures have made it more convenient.

Today, cosmetic treatments have made it possible for you to turn back the clock, well, in hours. But, while Botox injections have been a staple to smooth out wrinkles and erase years from your appearance, it’s the telltale effects of Botox (read: ‘permanent startled’ expression) that are too obvious and unflattering. The jabs leave you fixed with a frozen or surprised look which leaves little room for facial expressions.

And that’s what Hollywood director Martin Scorsese noticed in his actresses. He complained that his actresses’ perfectly smooth foreheads allowed no wiggle room for dramatic expression. Female actresses in their quest for youth, no longer had the ability to frown. As a result, many of these actresses thus started seeking Botox treatments which have come to be known as ‘Micro Botox’ or ‘Baby Botox’ treatments.

Says Cosmetologist and anti- ageing specialist Dr Varun Katyal, “Baby Botox is more natural and wears off more quickly in time. It’s like going for Botox but people around you can hardly notice it. Following on the trend of less is more; it involves tiny doses of Botox which are injected into the usual areas- crow’s feet, forehead lines, nasolabial folds. The low-dose treatment allows for movement and a more natural-looking result.”

While initially, you need to repeat the procedure more frequently, say at a gap of two months, eventually results last longer. The procedure requires a different understanding of Botox: more frequent, smaller doses just might be more effective than higher, longer-lasting ones and with great restraint.

“But the biggest concern about Baby Botox is that in the wrong hands, the results can easily go awry. It takes a skilled practitioner to maintain subtlety while administering Botox, and still obtain the desired results,” warns Dr Varun.

Unsurprisingly looking young and beautiful for as long as possible is on several people’s wish list. But since, ageing is a part of our life cycle, cosmetic procedures like tiny doses of Botox ensure that you age and grow naturally and gracefully, without having to lose your radiance and charm to otherwise Botox shots that result in a frozen look.
