BEING A BRAVE-HEART

Life is beautiful but only when you let go of your fears and live freely. Read on to know a few therapies that can help you do so.

‘Be brave’, ‘don’t be afraid’, these are common lines that you often hear but nobody tells you how exactly to do that. I have been a scared cat all my life. I still remember how I used to freak out the moment my teacher used to ask me to say something in front of the class. I was horrible at public speaking. I can’t say that I have overcome my fears completely but I’m working on them. Here’re a few therapies and remedies that I explored in my quest for solutions.

What fear is?

Fear is a state of emotion, just like happiness, sadness, anger and love. It is natural and something that each one of us experiences at some point of time in life. There can be different types of fears; like of public speaking, rejection, losing someone, failure, height, water, fire or death. Fears can be for short time but its effects may last longer on your mind and body. These can also stop you from doing things. Read on to know which therapies can help you through so that you stop worrying and start living.

Flower Power: Bach Flower Remedies is the first therapy that I would like to mention as this is the one that I’ve been using for past few months and these have helped me to a great extent. Developed by Dr Edward Bach back in 1930s, it is a natural form of medicine that treats emotional and spiritual health. Bach Flower Therapist, Jhelum Biswas Bose tells, “There are different types of fears, which require different remedies.” Following are the medicines that she recommends:

– Aspen for unexplained/unknown fears

– Mimulus for known fears.

– Cherry Plum for fear of losing control.

– Rock Water, when terror stricken and unable to move.

– Red Chestnut for fear related to loved ones.

You just need to add two drops of these remedies in your drinking water, coffee or tea and sip it. However, it is best to consult a Bach Flower Therapist to start with.

Bose adds, “An individual needs to consult a therapist and talk about the concerns as per which a blend of the flower essences is prescribed for a few days. These remedies keep on changing as per the situation and issues of the person till the desired results are achieved.”

Past Life Regression: Some fears are unexplained, like at times you’re scared of a normal house cat, fear of relationships or fear of fire without ever having experienced any accident related to it in your life. Such fears have to be dealt with care. I caught up with Past Life Regression practitioner, Roopa Sharma, who has been practicing past 9 years and believes that such regression sessions can help cope with these unexplained fears.

To start with, a consultation is done to understand whether a person needs this session or not. Sharma says, “After judging and discussing it with the individual, hypno-therapy is used, examining the experiences that could be the root of the present fear or phobia. Subsequently, healing is done during the regression or after the session through counseling, depending upon the case. Moreover, once you’re aware of the reason behind your fear, it is much easier to handle it.”

Reiki Healing: In words of Sangeeta Sakhuja, a Reiki healer, practicing for 13 years, “it is a spiritually guided life force energy, which can help you achieve complete wellness by addressing the physical, mental and emotional issues that can be holding you back from achieving perfect health of mind, body and spirit.”

She adds, “Fear is a strong emotion and it takes time to let it go and replace it with love. Reiki helps us to reconnect to our inner self with love.” The therapy is used to clear the energy blockages from an individual’s chakras, and reconnect with self love and love for others. You become aware of the destructive and repetitive patterns you have been holding onto, and are able to break the pattern, thus healing yourself.

Most people benefit from their very first Reiki treatment, while others with deeper issues require additional treatments. Everyone’s needs are different. Some blockages may take time due to heavy blockages in chakras and also if the blockage has been there for quite a long period. So be patient and continue working till you get the desired results.
