HONEY HONEY!

Before writing my book Phoolproof, I had seen honey only as a delicious sweetener and of course, a main ingredient of my face wash, Honeytrap. However, while researching for the book, I found several other uses of it in our beauty regime. Here are some.

Honey and lemon cleanser: For dull skin, add lemon zest (½ tsp) in honey (1 tsp) and a few drops of lemon juice. Mix it together and apply it on your face. Massage the face with this cleanser for five minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Skin will look bright and feel soft.

Honey and egg face pack: If you have oily skin, whisk together honey (1 tbsp) and egg white (1) and apply the mix on your face. Leave it for twenty minutes to dry. Wash off with cold water. For normal to dry skin, use the yolk instead of the egg white and follow the same procedure. You may add a drop each of tea tree and lemon essential oils if you wish. This pack helps tighten and brighten skin.

Honey and olive oil hair treatment: To promote hair growth and scalp health, warm olive oil (1 tbsp) and add to it honey (2 tsp) and fresh ginger juice (¼ tsp). Mix well and massage on to the scalp, and spread it along the hair strand. Leave it for twenty minutes and shampoo as usual.

Honey and banana hair mask: To bring life and bounce into your hair, mash two ripe bananas and mix with 1 tbsp of honey and apply it on your hair and scalp. Cover the head with a shower cap and leave it on for twenty minutes. Rinse off the pack and then shampoo.

Honey and oatmeal body scrub: To exfoliate and invigorate your skin, mix together honey (1 tbsp), oatmeal (1 tbsp), sweet almond oil (1 tbsp) and coffee powder (1 tbsp) and massage it on to face and body. Add a drop of vanilla extract to the scrub to make it smell more delicious. This is optional. Wash off after fifteen minutes.
